Build a small internal tool using only free AI tools
May 21, 2026
Over the last 2 days, I tried something simple:
👉 Build a small internal tool using only free AI tools
We had a recurring issue, weekly project summaries were always delayed. By the time I reviewed them, the next week had already started.
I wanted a simple way to track project status in real time.
After some valuable input from Rajib Rakhmit, the idea became much clearer.
⏱️ Total time spent: ~4 hours
And the basic structure was already ready.
The interesting part?
I didn’t use any paid tools.
Here’s what I realized:
Most of us assume:
“Without premium tools, this can’t be done.”
Because of that mindset, we:
• don’t try
• don’t explore
• don’t test free options
• don’t improve
But in reality, the biggest limitation isn’t the tool
it’s the mindset.
My approach was simple:
1. Defined the problem clearly
2. Used ChatGPT to structure the idea and create a plan
3. Generated UI using Google AI Studio
4. Pushed the project to GitHub for version control
5. Used Antigravity + Free Models to analyze the codebase
6. Planned implementation before coding
7. Built step by step using Gemini
My workflow now:
Problem → Prompt → UI → GitHub → Analysis → Plan → Development
Biggest lesson:
👉 AI becomes powerful only when your problem is clear
If the problem is unclear → output is confusing
If the problem is clear → results are fast and useful
AI is not just a tool.
It’s a speed multiplier.
And those who learn to use it properly will naturally move faster.
